8/8/2023 0 Comments Het magyar vezerAlthough born a pagan, Sarolt was brought up as an Orthodox Christian, writing with cyrilic letters. According to the Gesta Hungarorum, Geula was the father of Sarolt who married Geza, the ruling prince of the Magyars during the last three decades of the tenth century. According to the Chronicon Pictum, Geula discovered the city of Alba (now Alba Iulia) during a hunt, made it his residence, and enlarged his territory to the Tisza, proving himself an enemy of the Magyars from Pannonia. According to Gesta Hungarorum, Geula was the grandson of Tuhutum, a captain of Árpád who defeated Gelou, the former ruler of Transylvania. Geula the old (also Gyyla, Jula) - mentioned by the Hungarian Gestas - a ruler (dux magnus et potens) in Transylvania during the middle of the 10th century. Gylas is identified by some historians with Geula the old from the Hungarian Gestas (see below). The metropolis (diocese) of Tourkias was centered at Bács in today's Hungary. Gylas constructed a Basilica, and received missionaries in his domains along the river Tisza. According to De Administrando Imperio, Tourkias was bordered by the Cris river in the east, and laid a distance of four days from Patzinakia, which had its western limits on the Eastern Carpathian mountains. He was accompanied on his way back by a Greek Orthodox monk named Hierotheus who had been ordained Metropolitan of Tourkias (the name for Hungary employed by the Byzantines). Gylas - mentioned in De Administrando Imperio - a 'Tourk' (the name for Magyars used in the chronicle) chieftain who was baptised as an Orthodox Christian in Constantinople, probably in 953, and received the title of patricius. Romanian authors consider them to have been the names of persons with a possible proto-Romanian descent: The following persons mentioned in the Hungarian Gestas and De Administrando Imperio are considered by Hungarian historians as an erroneous interpretation of the title gyula by the chroniclers. The word gyula, like other ancient Magyar titles, was not used after the establishment of the Kingdom of Hungary. It is possible that during the 10th century some of the holders of the title of gyula also used Gyula as a personal name, but the issue has been confused because the chronicler of one of the most important primary sources (the Gesta Hungarorum) has been shown to have used titles or even names of places as personal names in some cases. The title gyula is sometimes translated into English as duke, which is not entirely equivalent as Hungary at this time was still a tribal society based on kinship ties, rather than a feudal society. The gyula and the horka a held a rank in Hungarian society second only to the fejedelem (ruling prince), and slightly above the rank of úr which was used to refer to the other tribal chieftains, who each ruled as prince in their own domain. The word gyula was used as the title of the semi-indepedendent rulers of Transylvania during the 10th century. After having secured the succession for his son Zoltán, he conferred the office of gyula on another tribal chief. Kurszán was killed during a raid in 904 and Árpád became the sole ruler of the nation. At the time of the settlement in the Pannonian plain, the kende was Kurszán while the gyula was Álmos and then his son Árpád. This kind of dual leadership was usual in the Khazar Empire of which the Magyar tribes were earlier subjects. While the former was the nominal leader, the latter was the chief warlord or military commander. Under the system of dual kingship which the Magyars used in the 9th century, the two kings of the tribal confederation were the kende (or kündü) and the gyula. It is the Hungarian form of an originally Turkic title which entered the Hungarian language at some point before 950 CE. This title was mentioned by Arabic chroniclers such as Ibn Rusta, by the Persian historian and geographer Gardizi and also in the annals of the monastery at Altaich. It was revived in the 19th century and is often associated with the Latin name Julius.Ī gyula is a Magyar leader. Head back and press the western lever this time, then unlock the northern door before going through the north west door. In the central area, go north and unlock the eastern lever, then continue and take the eastern barrel for 125 mana shards. Now head into the second eastern corridor and make your way through the corridors to the door that leads into the central area. In the vase/barrel room you’ll find a Medium Vitality Seed. Then back out and onward into the top western corridor. Now head into the first eastern corridor to get a Chocolate Puzzle from the hidden chest. Walk into the west room to unlock your teleporter. Now head down to the next floor, we’ll come back here after level 20. You’ll need to defeat her to proceed to the next floor so train if you need to. Drop by the barrel on your way for 110 mana shards. After that move back out of the corridor and then head north to the boss room. Then move all the way south to the hidden chest for another lucky statue shard. Next head for the second chest in the north for a Terrorize scroll. One of them holds a medium strength seed. Now head back out and move to the double barrel just west of you. Ignore the barrel to the east of the entry point but do head for the event room to fight a level 39 Fox Knight to unlock her CG and obtain an ice resistance seed. In that case you’ll have some more moving to do. Now head for the exit (remember you can always use the secret passage on this floor for quick transport), unless you want the 95 mana shards from the last barrel. Once taken, head north to the barrel just north of the chest you are at for a medium dexterity seed. You’re best of by heading all the way south first, and then turn west. Next, you’ll have to make your way all the way southwest to the second chest for a reviving balm. First head north to the second barrel for a new warp stone, then head on to the chest for an avalanche scroll. If you have a map image, then floor 17 is a pretty easy map. After that it’s time for the boss room in the center of the map. Finally, the last chest behind the hidden wall will contain an air resistance seed. The barrel one room south will contain 80 mana shards. Now make your way 1 room south for a medium agility seed in the center vase. Open the chest once you reach the room to retrieve the Dragon Orb, it’ll weaken the floor boss’ level from 38 to 35. Start making your way there and drop by the vase on the way for 90 mana shards. Open up the chest after the battle for a Dragon Key, which we’ll need for the northwest corner. Once received, head for the room in the northeast corner and get ready for a fairly big battle. And in the double barrel room north of that you’ll find a healing potion in one of them. Then move one room north for 1000 mana shards in the chest. Next head for the barrel in the southeast corner for a warp stone. Once on this floor, head for the teleporter in the room just east of the starting point. It holds maps and guides for floor 16 and up (or down if you prefer). This is the second part of the Sakura Dungeon walkthrough. |
